Chapter 3 - Surah Ali'Imran
Surah Ali'Imran (The Family of Imraan)
“Whoever reads one letter from the Book of Allaah will earn one good (hasanah) thereby. One good deed is equal to ten good deeds the like of it. I do not say that Alif-Lam-Mim is a letter, but Alif is a letter, Laam is a letter and Meem is a letter.’”
Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 2910
Surah Ali'Imran - Last Ten
A report narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim from Ibn ‘Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), that
He stayed one night with Maymunah, the Mother of the Believers, who was his maternal aunt. He said:
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) slept until halfway through the night, or just before or after that. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) woke up and started wiping the sleep from his face with his hand.
Then he recited the last ten verses of Surah Al ‘Imran,
then he got up and went to a water skin that was hanging there, and did wudu (ablution) from it and did it well, then he stood and prayed.
Al-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) said:
“This indicates that it is desirable to recite these verses when getting up from sleep .”
Surah Ali'Imran - Verse 52 & 64
Ibn 'Abbas (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to recite during the two Rak'ah of Fajr prayer:
"Say (O Muslims): We believe in Allah and that which has been sent down to us..." (2:136) which is in Surat Al-Baqarah in the first Rak'ah and the Verse:
"We believe in Allah, and bear witness that we are Muslims (i.e., we submit to Allah." (3:52) in the second Rak'ah.
According to another narration, he (ﷺ) recited from Surat Al-'Imran the Verses:
"Come to a word which is just between us and you..." (3:64).
Ibn ‘Abbas reported that the Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam) used to recite in first of the two (supererogatory) rak’ahs of the dawn: “Say: We believed in Allah and what was revealed to us…” verse 136 from Surah Baqarah, and in the second of the two: “I believe in Allah and I bear testimony that we are Muslims” – Surah Ali Imran, Ayah 52 (3:52).

Say, [O believers], “We have believed in Allah and what has been revealed to us and what has been revealed to Abraham and Ishmael and Isaac and Jacob and the Descendants and what was given to Moses and Jesus and what was given to the prophets from their Lord. We make no distinction between any of them, and we are Muslims [in submission] to Him.”
Surah Al-Baqarah, Ayah 136 (2:136) Translation: Sahih International
At the second rak’ah after reciting Surah Al-Fatihah, one should recite:
We are supporters for Allah . We have believed in Allah and testify that we are Muslims [submitting to Him].
