Conclusion
So, my brothers, this is a short incident, this is what happened, and to say that for forty days the water supply was stopped from the women and kids, then no my brothers, this whole incident is of only one to two days. The one whose water supply was stopped for forty days was in reality Janāb ʿUthmān, who they curse, who is the husband of two of the daughters of Nabī, who is Dhū al-Nūrayn. And there is no doubt in this that the death of Janāb Ḥusayn is by oppression, but the death of Janāb ʿUthmān is by way much more oppressed than him. And also keep in mind that Janāb Ḥusayn was oppressed and martyred unjustly, do not say that he is the indeed problem solver or the provider! If he was a problem solver or a need provider, then he would have not been martyred unjustly like this. And if the grandfather of Janāb Ḥusayn, our Nabī, Janāb Muḥammad was a problem solver, a need provider, the greatest helper, the support giver, then he would not have let his grandson be martyred like this. My brothers, the death of Janāb Ḥusayn is death by oppression, and we are grieved by this, but to wail on the 10th of Muḥarram annually, reviving this grief, then this is not a Sunnah of Rasūlullāh.
The paternal uncle of the Nabī; Janāb Ḥamzah — the leader of the martyrs — was martyred in the year 2 AH and Rasūlullāh died in the year 11 AH, tell me if any year Rasūlullāh made Janāb Ḥamzah martyred day as a day of grief? Or ever Ṣaḥābah made the death day of Rasūlullāh a day of grief? Muslim is the patient one. A Muslim is given glad tidings when he observes patience. Our Nabī said that patience is that which is observed at the moment when you receive the sad news [the very first moment of grief]. And here! 1400 years have passed and still, they are not observing patience. And even those who wail are those whose hands are covered with the blood of Janāb Ḥusayn. My brothers, it is transmitted in Bukhārī and Muslim that Janāb Zaynab bint Abī Salamah narrates that when the father of Umm Ḥabībah, wife of Nabī; Janāb Abū Sufyān died, She asked for a perfume which contained yellow scent or some other scent, and she first perfumed one of the girls with it and then rubbed her cheeks with it and said,
“By Allah, I do not need perfume, but I have heard Allah’s Messenger saying, “It is not lawful for a lady who believes in Allah and the Last Day to mourn a dead person for more than three days unless he is her husband, for whom she should mourn for four months and ten days.”.
And here these women are still mourning, haven't their three days yet completed? We make duʿāʾ to Allāh tabārak wa taʿālā that He rectifies our ʿaqāʾid and instills love for Āl al-Bayt and Ṣaḥābah in our hearts and saves us from being indulged in the disputes between the Ṣaḥābah. Ameen.
